Bed Bug Treatment in Thompson Falls
Pest control and management refers to any system or measure that seeks to eliminate or regulate the population of insects considered harmful to human and animal health and the environment. Pest control in Thompson Falls MT requires a lot of work and resources but it is a necessity, especially for homes. Here are the reasons why pest management is important and why every homeowner should consider applying it:
1. Preventing damage to homes and structures
In the U.S., people spend about $5 billion for the repair of damages caused by termite infestation. Termites consume wood and wood products such as ply-board and paper. Once they have burrowed into the wood components of the home, they can eat beams, floorings and walls from the inside. This makes the structure weak and vulnerable to collapse, leaving household members at a risk. Termite infestation can be especially problematic in older homes and structures that have not been treated. In areas where termites are known pests, managing a home to keep it safe from termites requires constant vigilance and assistance from pest control agencies.
2. Preventing allergies
Pests can cause a range of issues in people, such as skin allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems. Bed bugs and mosquitoes, for example, are notorious for causing skin rashes. Pests can also carry certain allegens that can cause strong allergic reactions in some people. Cockroaches, for example, can cause allergies in at least 7% of the population. They are also one of the leading causes of asthma in children.
3. Avoiding diseases and other health risks
Leprosy, skin infections, urinary tract infections, Lyme disease, intestinal infections, dysentery, dengue, malaria and food poisoning are just a few of the diseases and health problems that pests can cause. They also carry a number of bacteria and viruses that can affect human and animal health. Although many of these diseases are treatable, they can cause serious health issues in children, the elderly and immune-compromised individuals, many of whom will require professional medical treatment or hospitalization. That, in turn, can translate to millions of dollars in medical costs.
4. Preventing damage and deterioration of furniture, carpets and clothes
Pest control has to be applied in order to save furniture, carpets and clothing and avoid the expenses associated with repairs and replacements. Burrowing insects are notorious for causing damage to the wooden and fabric components of furniture. Some, such as carpet bugs, moths, cockroaches and silverfish are also attracted to fabric, often using it as a source of food.
5. Maintenance of food supply
Food supply is critical to the survival of the world’s populations. On a macro economic level, it also influences the world’s economies and supports majority of today’s active industries. Without proper pest management, almost 20% of our food supply will be wasted due to consumption of rodents. Each year, millions of dollars’ worth of food is lost to rodent attacks and infestation. By controlling the threat, it is possible to keep food supplies at manageable and useful levels. On the Thompson Falls Montana home-front, implementing pest control measures can help prevent food waste and contamination. Pests do not only consume food, they also leave behind undesirable organic matter such as dead skin, body parts, feces and urine, all of which can affect the quality of the food we eat.

Some Common Q & A’s
Ant/Pest Control ???
So We Have Ants In Our House--Not A Huge Trail Or Anything Just A Few Here And There In Each Room. (Thats The Maddening Thing--Not Knowing Where They Are Coming From). Anyways, I Was Wondering Which Is Better, To Have The Pest Control Come Out And Spray Once, Or Have The Service Which Is Every Other Month But Very Expensive. We Had A Service Come Out Last Year And We'Ve Been Ant Free For About A Year After That. Any Suggestions?!?! Tia
Don't get your house sprayed for ants, it is useless and can make the problem worse. You are killing a small population of the exploring ants, but not killing the nest. While your house is being sprayed and for awhile afterwards you are going to be exposing yourself, your family, and your pets to poisons (usually neurotoxins).
What you can do is use bait. It is far more effective and gets the ants where they live. The explorer ants take the poison back to their nest where it kills everyone. It is a bit less satisfying because you don't see instant kill, but you do see the kill more permanently.
Check out this Integrated Pest Management website from the University of California, Davis. http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/ For your health and the health of the environment, please use baits, and use them according to the label.
Is It Dangerous To Sit Around Idly Near A Location Which Has Been Sprayed By A Pest Exterminator?
Recently, I Found That My House Had Acquired A Rather Irritating Number Of Pests-- Spiders, Cockroaches, And Flying Insects Had Found Peace Within The Residential Commute Of My House. As You Would Expect, I Requested Assistance From A Pest Exterminator, Who Proceeded To Maneuver Through Each Room Of My House, Spraying The Base Of Each Wall And Door With His Poison. Now, I Wonder This: Just How Safe Is This Poison? Should It Harm Only The Insects Or Does It Pose A Threat To Humans As Well? I Have An Irrational Fear Of Poisons, And These Poisons In Particular Are Concerning Me Because I Will Have To Sleep In A Room Which Was Sprayed With Them Tonight.
Nah you'll be fine as long as you don't lick your baseboards.
Besides the pest control company should have told you whether or not to vacate the premisis.
How Much Does An Exterminator Cost In Nyc?
I Live In Brooklyn And My Roomate And I Just Found Out We Have Bed Bugs. It'S Not A Huge Problem Yet (We'Ve Only Seen One, But We Have A Few Bites) But We Want To Stop The Bugs Before They Get Worse. We Know We'Re Supposed To Bag All Laundry/Fabrics In The House And Wash Them, But Most Things I'Ve Researched Say That An Exterminator Is The Only Way To Really Get Rid Of The Bugs.
Does Anyone Know How Much This Would Cost Us (Small Apartment: Living Room, Bedroom, And Small Office/Closet) In Brooklyn/Nyc Area? Does Anyone Have Any Recommendations (Of Exterminators Or An Effective Way To Do It Yourself?)
Yes, no matter what action and preventative measures you take, it's imperative to get an exterminator in there to finish the job. Also, you're going to want to make sure you don't just hire some random Joe off the street. Look for someone that is licensed, provides a guarantee, isn't a huge money-hungry corporation and has many years experience.
I had the same problem a couple of months ago and it was such a hassle! When I started calling around... the estimates were ridiculous--some into the high thousands. I ultimately chose a company called Alliance Pest Mgmt in Staten Island. I dealt with a man by the name of Steven. The phone number is 718-606-2161 As far as I know, they service all 5 boroughs.
Also, if you're renting, it's your landlord's responsibility to take care of that I believe.
How Much Does Billy The Exterminator Charge ?
I Want A Price .. Is It The Same As Most Exterminators ?
You'll probably have to contact them for a quote. I should imagine that they're in line with their competitors or they wouldn't stay in business. Don't expect to be on the TV show, they must have many more clients than ever appear on there.
Do You Work For A Pest Control Company? Please Help.?
I Have A Really Bad Problem With German Roaches. I Have Tried All Methods Of Killing These Pests But Finally Had To Break Down And Call A Local Company To Come And Help. It Worked For A While But The Cost Was Throw The Roof.
I Need To Find Out What Prodect Most Professional Companys Use To Kill German Cockroaches. The Company That I Currently Works For (A Chemical Company) Has Contacts In Which It Can Get These (And Other) Types Of Prodects At A Reduced Rate.
If You Know What They Use Please Let Me Know. I Have 2 Littles One At Home And I Really Need To Get Rid Of These Bugs For Health Reasons.... And They Gross Me Out.
Btw, I Do Keep A Very Clean House But Because We Live In Fl And With All The Weather And Stuff I Am Having A Hard Time. These Bugs Where In The House When We Bought It And Only Got Worse With Time.
I have worked for a company in the past that did residential pest control. I don't know what chemicals were used but I do know they were supposed to be natural and harmless to humans. They were fairly expensive products.
We would inject the walls where bugs were suspected with a dust, especially wet walls because they tended to nest there for the moisture. We would use a pressure hose to spray the outside of the house all the way around and we would granulate the yard.
The only pest specific things I remember were for ants and rats but it was in Virginia where roaches aren't as big a problem.
The company I worked for got bought out a few years ago so I can't find the specific products we used.
I did a little digging around and this Diatomaceous Earth sounds like the stuff we were using as the dust in the walls, based on the effect it has on bugs. http://www.ghorganics.com/DiatomaceousEarth.html
I don't know what supplier we got it from. But I do remember we would always get a few irate people who started seeing bugs in their home immediately after we came the first time or would see more bugs then they thought they had. After a week or two though the bugs would be gone completely in most cases. The way we got it into walls was a glorified hole in your wall that we would then plug with a hollow plastic tube with a cap on it so we could reapply easily. We would normally hide the holes under sinks. It is safe for humans. Versions of Diatomaceous Earth are actually sold as a dietary supplement.
There is a good chance that the granulation we used in the yard was a product of the same stuff. The effect was again the same as inside. People would report a lot of activity shortly after using the product which would then usually completely disappear. Though our pest control service was a monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly service, when we would come back and reapply the products.
The spray we used sounds like it was a pyrethrin of some kind. One of the selling points we were told to impress on customers is that it was made from Chrysanthemum flowers. Doing a tad bit of research shows that it is a nurotoxin and there are many different specific products. It can be harmful to humans in the right conditions so should be used in limited amounts. We would spray 6 ft up on the sides of the house and 6 ft. out into the yard from the house. We used a diluted mixture. I would be surprised if we used something fatal to insects. It was probably just enough strength to be a replant. I can't recommend a specific product as I do not know who our supplier was. We were mixing the concentrate in large water tanks installed into the back of pick-up trucks and used a pressure hose to apply it. I only looked around for a few minutes but wasn't able to find a great deal of information that wasn't just designed to sell a product. I am sure you can get more detail though if you look around. The only informative entry I found was a blog entry.
